Montgomery Planning staff presented about the Pedestrian Master Plan to this civic association outside of downtown Silver Spring. Local pedestrian and traffic safety issues were also discussed.

Ashton Alliance / Sandy Spring Civic Association Meeting – June 9, 2021

Montgomery Planning staff presented about the Pedestrian Master Plan and answered questions about local pedestrian projects.


Rockville Pedestrian Advisory Committee – March 11, 2021

Montgomery Planning staff shared an overview of the Pedestrian Master Plan effort and discussed opportunities for coordination between City and County staff on improving pedestrian comfort.

Montgomery College Career Pathways – August 11, 2020

Montgomery Planning staff convened an array of planning and engineering professionals to share career perspectives and answer questions from Montgomery College students. Students also learned about the Pedestrian Master Plan effort and the Pedestrian Shortcut Map.


League of Women Voters Pedestrian Safety Meeting, Rockville – February 24, 2020

Montgomery Planning staff presented alongside a Montgomery County Department of Transportation employee and the chair of the Pedestrian, Bicycle, Traffic Safety Advisory Committee about current efforts to improve pedestrian safety, including the Pedestrian Master Plan. The trio also answered questions about the plan and other pedestrian concerns.


North Bethesda Transportation Management District Advisory Committee – February 19, 2020

Montgomery Planning staff presented to this group about the Pedestrian Master Plan broadly with particular attention to the Pedestrian Level of Comfort in North Bethesda.

National Capital Area Chapter of the American Council of the Blind of Maryland Meeting, Silver Spring– January 16, 2020

Montgomery Planning staff presented about the Pedestrian Master Plan to this local advocacy organization for those who are blind or low-vision. The group shared their pedestrian concerns and what they hoped the plan would include. A staff person from the Montgomery County Department of Transportation also attended to present about separated bike lanes and floating bus stops.


Commission on Children and Youth – January 8, 2020

Montgomery Planning staff met with the youth members of the Commission to discuss the Pedestrian Master Plan, pedestrian safety, and the planning process generally. Staff discussed ways attendees could get involved in improving pedestrian safety in Montgomery County.

Montgomery Planning staff presented about the Pedestrian Master Plan and answered questions about pedestrian issues from this group of older Montgomery County residents and service providers for the elderly.

The Pedestrian Plan team walked with community members from downtown Silver Spring through Long Branch, discussing pedestrian issues encountered along the way.

The Pedestrian Plan team presented about the goals, tasks, and schedule of the pedestrian master plan.


Montgomery Hills Street Festival – September 21, 2019 

The Pedestrian Plan team attended the Montgomery Hills Street Festival and met with community residents. Conversations revolved around increasing walkability in the area, recent developments in Silver Spring, and the shared responsibility everyone has out on our roads.


Pedestrian Master Plan presentation to the Commission on People with Disabilities – September 11, 2019

The Pedestrian Plan team shared information about the pedestrian master plan and facilitated a discussion about the pedestrian issues of importance to the disability community.


Approval of Scope of Work – September 5, 2019

The Planning Board approved the Scope of Work for the Pedestrian Master Plan, officially starting the master plan process. The Pedestrian Plan team discussed the reasons the plan is so important and timely before sharing the tasks the plan will accomplish and the plan timeline.
