Photo Archive

The Historic Preservation Office maintains an extensive collection of scanned slides and archival photographs from the past work of the Planning Department, Historic Preservation staff, and Montgomery Parks historians. These slides reflect survey work, historic site documentation, and Master Planning studies beginning in the 1970s. Some of the photographs date from the agency’s early history and document site conditions and communities from the 1930s-1950s.

Approximately one third of the scanned slides have been mapped to specific locations around the county. The remainder are identified only by broad geographic areas or were unlabeled and are therefore not mappable. However, the entire collection is available for research and public access.

Explore the mapped slides using the map below or search the full photo archive for all scanned slides.
