Big Ideas Series continues, Planners hold an open house for the Historic Preservation Tax Credits and Planning Board briefings.

SILVER SPRING, MD – The Montgomery County Planning Board and the Montgomery County Planning Department, both part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), are pleased to announce their February 2020 calendar of events. March 3 – The community is invited to attend a discussion on Housing for All as part of the Thrive Montgomery 2050 Big Ideas Series. The moderated discussion will focus on how the county can provide affordable and equitable housing solutions in the future. The event will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Planning Department headquarters (8787 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD). RSVPs are encouraged, but not required. The session will be available live and on-demand online.

March 4 – Historic Preservation staff will hold a Historic Preservation Tax Credit Open House where staff will explain the tax credit programs for home improvements and answer residents’ questions at the event. The open house will be held at Montgomery Planning’s headquarters (8787 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD) from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Learn more about the open house and program.

March 5 – The Planning Board will meet at 8787 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring, MD.  The Board will receive a briefing on the work of the Schools Technical Advisory Team (STAT) in support of the 2020 update to the Subdivision Staging Policy. March 11 – The Montgomery County Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) will meet at the Planning Department Headquarters (8787 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD). Consult the HPC meeting webpage for agenda information. Meetings are available live and on demand online.

March 12 – The Planning Board will meet at 8787 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring, MD.  Montgomery County officials will update the Planning Board on efforts to develop a Climate Action Plan. Planning staff will also present the scope of work for the White Flint Sector Plan’s ten-year checkup: Advancing the Pike District. March 19 -There is no Planning Board meeting on Thursday, March 19. Consult the Planning Board’s website for future meetings.

March 24 – The Montgomery County Planning Department and Department of Parks will present their Spring 2020 Semiannual Report to the Montgomery County Council.

March 25 – The Montgomery County Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) will meet at the Planning Department Headquarters (8787 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD). Consult the HPC meeting webpage for agenda information. Meetings are available live and on demand online.

March 26 – The Planning Board will meet at 8787 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring, MD. Planning staff will present and review the latest trends in the county’s population, households and employment as it related to the 2020 update to the Subdivision Staging Policy. The Planning Board will also be presented with the working draft of the Shady Grove Minor Master Plan Amendment.
