This year’s event will include a new multifamily housing award and recognize design excellence in recent development projects in Montgomery County
SILVER SPRING, MD – The Montgomery County Planning Department, part of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, is co-sponsoring the 2019 Montgomery County Design Excellence Awards celebration on Thursday, October 17, 2019, starting at 6 p.m. at the Amp by Strathmore (11810 Grand Park Avenue, North Bethesda, MD) at Pike and Rose.
The 2019 Design Excellence Awards and jury citations in architecture, urban design and landscape architecture celebrate recent projects in the county demonstrating high quality design. A special award will recognize achievements in multifamily housing.
The 2019 AIA Potomac Valley design awards will also be announced at the October 17 event. Please join us to celebrate those design leaders responsible for making our region one of the most desirable places to live, work and play.
Tickets are $50.00 and can be purchased online at the Amp by Strathmore website. A cocktail reception with hors d’oeuvres will be held before the awards ceremony. Residential developer Martin Ditto will be the featured speaker to address the power of design and imagination in housing.
The Design Excellence Award winners were chosen in July 2019 by an independent jury of nationally recognized architects, landscape architects and urban designers, who reviewed projects completed in Montgomery County over the past decade. More details on the members of the jury are posted online.
After the October 17 event, the Design Excellence Awards will be promoted as examples of improving the quality of our communities in Montgomery County, with photos of the winning projects exhibited in the County Council chamber and other public venues.
