The Community Trends Report: A Look at Montgomery County Communities Since 2010 is a first-ever comprehensive study of changes over time in small areas of the county by Montgomery Planning’s Research & Strategic Projects Division. Recognizing that effective planning requires a deeper understanding of the county’s many individual communities, the purpose of this report is to provide information on recent trends to help policymakers and other stakeholders make informed decisions and thoughtful policies that prioritize equity, inclusiveness, sustainability, and resilience.

The full report consists of one countywide profile and a set of community profiles, each organized into the themes of Place, People, and Housing as a framework for the analysis of land use, population, and housing. Each profile will highlight a community’s general land use and development patterns, notable facilities and amenities, and changes over time in characteristics such as age, race, income, educational attainment, housing type, homeownership rates, and affordability.
