Montgomery Planning wins multiple international communications awards 

Department wins one Platinum and four Gold MarCom Awards for writing, graphic and web design, and video production supporting master plans and projects 

Wheaton, Md. – The Montgomery County Planning Department, part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), won one Platinum, four Gold, and five honorable mentions in the 2024 MarCom Awards international competition for design, video, writing, and website communications and marketing of department master plans and other projects. Administered by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP), the MarCom Awards honor excellence in marketing and communications while recognizing the creativity, hard work, and generosity of industry professionals.

Montgomery Planning’s Communications Division leads the department’s engagement, marketing and communications efforts to provide an audience-centric approach for reaching members of the community with a focus on removing barriers to participating in the planning process. 

“Our Communications team excels at integrating innovative strategies and tools to effectively and equitably engage the community,” said Montgomery Planning Director Jason K. Sartori. “The recognition of these awards speaks to the commitment of all of our staff to creatively invite as many people as possible into the planning process using a variety of tactics and platforms.”

Pedestrian Master Plan Document – Platinum Award Winner for Government Publications  

Gold Award(s):

Montgomery County Planning Board will recommend relaxing single-family zoning  – Gold Award for Editorial Creative Writing 

Friendship Heights Urban Design Study – Gold Award Winner for Government Publications

About the MarCom Awards

Since its inception in 2004, MarCom has evolved into one of the largest, most-respected creative competitions in the world. Each year about 6,500 print and digital entries are submitted from hundreds of countries. MarCom is administered by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP). The international organization, founded in 1995, consists of several thousand marketing, communication, advertising, public relations, digital, and web professionals. AMCP administers recognition programs, provides judges, and rewards outstanding achievement and service to the community. Entrants are not charged entry fees for work they create pro bono for nonprofits. In the past few years alone, AMCP has contributed more than $250,000 to charitable causes.
