Community meeting for the Corridor Forward: I-270 Transit Plan and public meetings scheduled for the Planning Board and Historic Preservation Commission ahead of the August recess
WHEATON, MD – The Montgomery County Planning Board and the Montgomery County Planning Department have announced their July 2021 calendar of online meetings. For more details, review the list of events below and visit www.montgomeryplanning.org.
In response to the COVID-19 crisis, the Planning Board has been holding public meetings online. The Planning Board expects to begin in-person sessions at Montgomery Planning’s headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Wheaton, MD) in September. Community members may sign up to testify and provide comments to the Board, during the online meeting, on specific agenda items through Microsoft Teams or phone. Written testimony may be submitted in advance of the meeting.
There are many ways to participate in Planning Board meetings:

- Listen live over the phone to the Planning Board meeting by calling: 866-774-0898 Password: 24252020
- Sign up to testify via phone during the Planning Board meeting. To testify, fill out the Sign Up to Testify form by 12 noon on the day before the Planning Board meeting. On the afternoon before the meeting, you will receive an email with a phone number to call during a designated time to provide your testimony for a specific agenda item. Submitting this form online by the deadline is the only way to testify on meeting items.
- Email your written testimony with comments on specific Planning Board agenda items to mcp-chair@mncppc-mc.org by 12 noon on the day before the Planning Board meeting.
- If you have questions, send an email to mcp-chair@mncppc-mc.org or leave a message at 301-495-4605 and a staff member in the Planning Board Chair’s office will contact you.
July 1 – The Planning Board will hold its meeting online. A second work session will be held for the Great Seneca Science Corridor Minor Master Plan Amendment and an update on the Local Area Transportation Review (LATR) Guidelines will be presented. July 8 – The Planning Board will hold its meeting online. A presentation on a Study of Mixed Use Development Trends will be given to the Planning Board by the Research and Strategic Projects staff and a work session for the Attainable Housing Strategies initiative will take place. July 15 – The Planning Board will hold its meeting online. Montgomery Planning staff will present the 2021 Travel Monitoring Report to the Planning Board. The Planning Board will review Zoning Text Amendment No. 21-03: Charitable, Philanthropic Institutions – Kitchens and Zoning Text Amendment No. 21-02: Independent Living for Seniors or Persons with Disabilities – Residential Zone Standards. July 20 – Planners will hold a virtual community meeting (7 to 8 p.m.) for the Corridor Forward: I-270 Transit Plan. During the meeting, Montgomery Planning staff will present an overview of the transit options under study by the Corridor Forward Plan and discuss the evaluation metrics that will be used to prioritize the transit options. Staff will also provide an overview of how information from the Transit Values Questionnaire informed the development of the evaluation metrics, and respond to questions from participants. RSVPs are required to attend.
