Parking Lot Design Study

Montgomery Planning is developing Parking Lot Design Guidelines to improve safety, accessibility, and sustainability in parking lots across Montgomery County. Funded by a $120,000 federal grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation, the study aims to access the current state of parking lots in the county and develop guidelines to make them safer for pedestrians. The guidelines will offer practical, user-friendly strategies for planners, developers, and engineers, focusing on:

  • Safer layouts and sight lines
  • Pedestrian-friendly infrastructure
  • Stormwater management
  • Integration with community character and multimodal access

This initiative supports Montgomery County’s Vision Zero goals. Learn more from Montgomery Planning’s official announcement.
