Long Branch Placemaking

Long Branch Festival Week

September 20–27, 2019

Montgomery Planning is supporting a community festival to be held during September 2019 in Long Branch, a neighborhood located east of downtown Silver Spring. This event is being led by Discover Long Branch, an initiative of the Long Branch Business League, and the Montgomery Housing Partnership. It will involve the community in a collaborative process of reimagining a livelier and friendlier downtown Long Branch. Together, the community will create a temporary civic green for gatherings and new activities, as proposed in the 2013 Long Branch Sector Plan.

The following survey will help us incorporate your ideas to make the festival a success!

Good Vibes Square
A place with good music, food and drinks – a place for families to relax, sit back and enjoy the day.

Looking for fun activities with your friends or maybe looking to make new friends? Friendship Lane is the place for you. Ever wondered what it’s like to play your friend at giant Jenga? On the street there will be games of large proportions – options for children of all ages, including those who are kids at heart. In our structural lane, each room comes with a new opportunity for fun. From the “Selfie Zone”, to board games, to arts and crafts and classes, this is the place to make room for the people in your life and share memories.

Ever miss the quaint and colorful alleyways where local vendors sell their food and trinkets right next to locals casually catching up with a friend? Pupusa Alley has got you covered. Stepping into the lane you will feel transported to another place where you can linger on bistro chairs after sampling Long Branch’s famous pupusa options from La Casita, Veronica’s Café, El Golfo, and El Gavilan. Listen to music and maybe have a dance as you chat with your neighbors and new friends.
