Winning photos will become part of the Bicycle Master Plan and Department documents
SILVER SPRING, MD – The Montgomery County Planning Department, part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, invites the public to vote online for the best photos from the Bicycle Master Plan Photo Contest. Votes can be cast any time between November 18 and December 9, 2016. To participate, choose your favorite image from each of the five categories. The winner in each category will have the chance to have this chosen image be included in the master plan document and other publications produced by the Planning Department.
Vote online in the Bicycle Master Plan Photo Contest
The semifinalist photos were selected by a jury of professional planners and photographers. Those contestants whose pictures obtain the most votes in each category will receive $100 in gift cards and their photos will be promoted on social media. All photos will be eligible to be included in the Bicycle Master Plan.

Best Family Photos:

- Lauren Weber – Dad and son on their trail ride.
Best Commuter Photos:
- Richard Albores – Rock Creek racers on the commute home from DC to Silver Spring.
- Kenneth Woodard – Commuter on a European-style bicycle.
- Lisa Cline – Gaithersburg-to-DC commute on Bike to Work Day.
Best Recreation Photos:
- Jessica Hirschhorn – Enjoying a ride in the Agricultural Reserve.
- Scott Wilets – Pedaling toward Poolesville.
- Scott Wilets – Cyclists pedaling to Poolesville.
Best Kid Photos:
- Amanda Farber – Children riding to Bethesda Elementary School.
- Lynn Ho – Cycling in the snow.
- Michael Jackson – Joy of cycling.
Best Other Photos:
- Michael Jackson – Uncle and niece cycling.
- Scott Wilets – Saturday bike ride.
- Jonathan Bernstein – Rear view mirror image.
Participation in the contest is free and open to the public.
