Planning Board to Discuss Bike Implementation Strategy for the Full Length of ICC

SILVER SPRING, MD — On Thursday, January 4 at approximately 7 p.m., the Montgomery County Planning Board will discuss the implementation strategy for a bicycle path accompanying the entire 18-mile length of the Intercounty Connector (ICC). Public testimony will be limited to 30 minutes.
Included in the county’s master plans for decades, the ICC is a proposed toll road connecting I-370 near the Shady Grove Metrorail station to US 1 between Beltsville and Laurel designed to facilitate transportation between Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. The State Highway Administration will be constructing approximately seven miles of bike path as part of the selected ICC alternative, Corridor 1. The Planning Board’s discussion will focus on those bike path segments not being built as part of the current ICC construction project.
Information on the January 4 agenda item on the ICC will be available online at www.montgomeryplanningboard.org/agenda/. To sign up in advance to speak, those interested may call 301-495-4600.
For more information on the Planning Board’s recommendations on the ICC, those interested may call Dan Hardy 301-495-4525 or email Dan.Hardy@mncppc-mc.org. Details on the ICC project are available by contacting Melinda Peters of the State Highway Administration at 866-462-0020 or submitting comments via the project website at www.iccproject.com.
