Planning Board and Planning Department Announce August 2019 Events

Two community events will encourage the public to envision the county’s future through Thrive Montgomery 2050 and update the county’s General Plan

SILVER SPRING, MDThe Montgomery County Planning Board and the Planning Department, both part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, are pleased to announce their August 2019 calendar of events. August 1 –The Planning Board is taking a recess and will not hold meetings in August. The Board will hold its next meeting on September 5, 2019.

August 6 Montgomery Planning will participate in National Night Out, a community event focused on raising awareness about crime and drug prevention, that will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Mid-County Regional Services Center (2004 Queensguard Road, Silver Spring, MD). During the evening, staff will ask the public to offer ideas about the future of Montgomery County.

August 14 – The Montgomery County Historic Preservation Commission will hold a public meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the Planning Department’s auditorium (8787 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD).

August 23 – Montgomery Planning is continuing to engage community members to give feedback on the future challenges and opportunities in the county over the next three decades. This Thrive Montgomery 2050 outreach event will be part of the Beer and Wine Garden Party held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Sandy Spring Museum (17901 Bentley Road, Sandy Springs, MD).
