Montgomery County Planning Board and Planning Department announce November 2021 online events

Attend virtual events for the Fairland and Briggs Chaney Master Plan and discover more ways to get involved; Public welcome to testify at Montgomery County Planning Board meetings in person starting November 4

WHEATON, MD – The Montgomery County Planning Board and the Montgomery County Planning Department, both part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), have announced their November 2021 calendar of online meetings. The Montgomery County Planning Board is scheduled to welcome the public to participate in and attend meetings in person starting on November 4, 2021. In-person participants will only be able to attend meetings that they are signed up to speak on. They will also be required to show proof of vaccination to Park Police before being allowed into the auditorium. A virtual participation option will also continue to be available.

Community members may sign up to testify and provide comments through Microsoft Teams or over the phone to the Board during the meeting on specific agenda items. Written testimony may be submitted in advance of the meeting.

November 1 – Montgomery Planning invites the community to attend a four-part virtual listening series on the Fairland and Briggs Chaney Master Plan. This session, “Parks, Recreation, and Places to Play,” is the first in the series (6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.).  RSVPs are required.

November 6 – Stop by Montgomery Planning’s table at the FRESHFARM Downtown Silver Spring Market (located near the intersection of Fenton St. and Ellsworth Dr.) to learn about the Silver Spring Downtown and Adjacent Communities Plan (9 a.m. – 1 p.m.)! Planning staff will be there to discuss the plan’s Public Hearing Draft, the Public Hearing scheduled for December 2, and how you can sign up to testify. Staff will also share other engagement opportunities happening this fall.

November 4 – The Planning Board will hold its meeting online. Consult the Planning Board’s agenda, posted 10 days before the meeting for more information. Watch the meetings online via live stream or review previous meetings on demand.

Montgomery Planning invites the community to attend a four-part virtual listening series on the Fairland and Briggs Chaney Master Plan. This session, “An Equitable Community, a Vibrant Economy and a Healthy Environment,” is the second in the series (6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.).  RSVPs are required.

November 9 – The full Montgomery County Council will hold a session on Thrive Montgomery 2050, the update to the county’s General Plan. Visit the Council’s website to learn more. 

November 10 – Montgomery Planning invites the community to attend a four-part virtual listening series on the Fairland and Briggs Chaney Master Plan. This session, “Mobility and Equitable Infrastructure,” is the third in the series (6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.).  RSVPs are required.

November 17 – The Historic Preservation Commission will hold its meeting online. To testify on an agenda item, sign up no later than 9 a.m. the day before the hearing. Consult the HPC meeting webpage for agenda information.

November 18 – The Planning Board will hold its meeting online. Consult the Planning Board’s agenda, posted 10 days before the meeting for more information. Watch the meetings online via live stream or review previous meetings on demand.

 November 19 – Montgomery Planning invites the community to attend a four-part virtual listening series on the Fairland and Briggs Chaney Master Plan. This session, “Food to Thrive,” is the fourth in the series (10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.).  RSVPs are required.

November 25 – There is no Planning Board meeting scheduled in observance of Thanksgiving Day. Consult the Planning Board’s agenda, posted 10 days before the meeting for more information. Watch the meetings online via live stream or review previous meetings on demand.
