Montgomery County Planning Board and Planning Department Announce March 2019 Events

Montgomery County Planning Board and Planning Department Events in March 2019

March 7 – The Planning Board will review proposed plans for mixed-use developments and parks, among other agenda items. For more details, consult the Planning Board meeting agenda.

March 14 – The Planning Board will review a preliminary plan for development in Bethesda, among other agenda items. For more details, consult the Planning Board meeting agenda, which will be posted online 10 days before the meeting date.

March 14 – Montgomery Planning will hold a public meeting to present preliminary staff recommendations for the Germantown Plan for the Town Sector Zone. The open house will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Upcounty Regional Center (12900 Middlebrook Road, Germantown, MD). The purpose of the plan is to update the Town-Sector (T-S) zoning, which is expiring under the recently updated zoning code, in Churchill Village. New zoning classifications will best reflect current uses and densities. Planners will discuss existing conditions, land uses, zoning and the county planning process. Participants will have an opportunity to meet the project team, ask questions and learn how to participate in this planning process. RSVPs are encouraged but not required.

March 19 – Montgomery Planning will hold a public meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. at its headquarters (8787 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD) to present the Working Draft of the Forest Glen/Montgomery Hills Sector Plan to the community. RSVPs are encouraged, but not required. The Working Draft recommendations focus on transportation and road improvements, pedestrian and bicycle safety and connectivity, environmental upgrades, affordable housing and land use considerations. The planning area stretches along the Georgia Avenue corridor to encompass the Montgomery Hills commercial area and Forest Glen neighborhood located between 16th Street and North Medical Park Drive.

March 20 – Montgomery Planning will hold the third and final session of its 2019 Winter Speaker Series in preparation for the launch of the county’s General Plan update. Speaker Joe McAndrew, director of transportation policy for the Greater Washington Partnership, will discuss the need for regional infrastructure strategies when planning roads, transit and multi-modal travel routes. This free event is open to the public and will be held at the Planning Department (8787 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD) from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The session also will be livestreamed at montgomeryplanning.org.

March 21 – The Planning Board will discuss the County Executive’s budgetary recommendations and hold a work session for the Greater Lyttonsville Sector Plan Design Guidelines. For more details, consult the Planning Board meeting agenda, which will be posted online 10 days before the meeting date.

March 28 – The Planning Board will review sketch and site plans for residential and commercial developments, among other items. More information is available on the Planning Board meeting agenda, which will be posted online 10 days before the meeting date.
