Maryland Planning Commissioners Association Will Hold Focus Group Discussion on August 1 at Planning Department

Outreach event seeks to determine planning priorities of local jurisdictions

SILVER SPRING, MDThe Montgomery County Planning Department, part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, will host a focus group discussion sponsored by the Maryland Planning Commissioners Association (MPCA) on Tuesday, August 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. at its headquarters (8787 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD).

The purpose of the meeting is to hear from Maryland’s planning community so the MPCA can determine what is important to local jurisdictions and tailor its services to best meet their needs. Planning commissioners, boards of zoning appeals members, historic preservation commission members and professional planners are invited to attend and participate in the discussion.

The MPCA is a statewide, nonprofit educational organization of municipal, county and regional planning commissioners and zoning board members. The August 1 event is one of seven meetings being held by the MPCA throughout Maryland this summer and provides an opportunity to discuss issues that are important to Montgomery County.

Through this outreach effort, the MPCA hopes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of its organization, and ensure its stakeholders have access to the best information about planning practices in Maryland.

RSVPs are requested but not required and can be submitted to the MPCA web site. For more information, contact Joe Griffiths at the Maryland Department of Planning at tel. 410-767-4553 or joseph.griffiths@maryland.gov.
