Roundtables will provide community stakeholders with an opportunity to discuss various aspects of the update to the county’s growth management policy

SILVER SPRING, MDThe Montgomery County Planning Department, part of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, is inviting residents and community stakeholders to attend three upcoming Subdivision Staging Policy (SSP) community roundtables.

These roundtables will provide community stakeholders an opportunity to discuss various aspects of the Subdivision Staging Policy with Montgomery Planning staff working on the 2020 update of the policy.  The Subdivision Staging Policy is the tool by which Montgomery County ensures its essential public facilities, particularly schools and transportation systems, keep pace with development. The SSP tests the County’s infrastructure for adequacy based on projected capacity, growth, and future development. The policy is updated every four years to ensure that the tools used for evaluating the impact of development on essential public facilities reflect the latest growth patterns of the County. Watch this short overview video to learn more about the Subdivision Staging Policy.  Sign up to receive news and updates about the project.

Planners are looking for feedback on the existing policy, its impacts on the county, and ideas for innovative solutions to consider with this update. RSVPs are encouraged but not required.
