Environment and Climate Division Chief
Christina Sorrento is the Chief of the Environment and Climate Division and oversees all environmental work in the Planning Department including regulatory and master plans, the inspection team, and the Reforest Montgomery program. Prior to her current role, Christina was the Chief of the Intake and Regulatory Coordination Division overseeing the regulatory process, and an Associate General Counsel providing legal advice to the Planning Board and Planning Department.
Prior to her work at the Commission, she was a site development consultant manager with Perkowitz and Ruth Architects responsible for entitlements for Wal-Marts across the east coast. She has been involved in the No Net Loss of Forest rewrite of the Forest Conservation Law, was one of two members from the Planning Department on the Development Review Workgroup, and created the enforcement process for violations of the Forest Conservation Law and Planning Board actions.
Christina received her bachelor’s degree in History, with a minor in Environmental Studies and Psychology from the State University of New York at Geneseo, followed by a law degree from the University at Buffalo School of Law. She is licensed to practice law in New York, Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Maryland, and has been with the Commission since 2008.
