Park and Planning Commission to Exhibit at the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair, August 12 – 20

SILVER SPRING, MD – To continue its tradition of community outreach and to support its commitment to preserving the county’s vast agricultural reserve, The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission is participating in the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair, Friday, August 12 through Saturday, August 20, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., with an exhibit booth on Maple Avenue, the main street inside the Gaithersburg fairgrounds.

In addition to colorful landscaping and gardening displays by Brookside Gardens and M-NCPPC’s Pope Farm Nursery, exhibits inside the tent include an interactive display on the county’s diverse population, a panel from Celebrate Rural Montgomery, the magnetic butterfly game, a golf putting green, live internet connection to the Commission’s website www.mcparkandplanning.org, giveaways, demonstrations and more. Visitors to the exhibit may also sign up for a free ParkPASS card online at www.ParkPASS.org, so they can register and pay online for nature center programs, ice skating and tennis lessons, Brookside Gardens classes and more.

Monday, August 15 is Children’s Day, and kids 18 years of age and under are admitted free until 4 p.m. Tuesday, August 16 is Seniors’ Day, and all those age 62 and over are admitted free until 4 p.m.

Last year, the Commission’s exhibit earned the grand champion purple ribbon for outdoor exhibits. Each year, more than 200,000 area residents visit the Gaithersburg fairgrounds to enjoy one of the east coast’s most extensive and well-attended agricultural fairs.
