Real estate research firm Movoto gives County high marks for education, unemployment rate, and median income
SILVER SPRING, MD – The best places to live in Maryland are all located in Montgomery County, according to Movoto, the real estate research blog. The full list of the most desirable places to call home in Maryland includes:

- North Potomac
- Bethesda
- Burtonsville
- Potomac
- South Kensington
- Poolesville
- Clarksburg
- Olney
- Chevy Chase (Census Designated Place)
“I am quite pleased with this list,” said Planning Director Gwen Wright, “and this is just more validation that the work of the Planning Board has led to the approval and creation of wonderful places to live in Montgomery County.”
Movoto used the following seven measurable criteria when ranking places with at least 5,000 residents in Maryland:
- Cost of living
- Crime rate
- High school graduation rate
- Median household income
- Median home value
- Median rent price
- Unemployment rate
