Planning Department opens Makeover Montgomery 4 conference registration and Planning Board holds work sessions for the Technical Update to the Master Plan of Highways and Transitways
SILVER SPRING, MD – The Montgomery County Planning Board and Planning Department, part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, are pleased to announce their March 2018 calendar of events. These events offer opportunities for the Planning Department staff and Planning Board members to discuss projects, policies and engage with the public. Montgomery County Planning Department and Board Events in March 2018
March 1- Registration opens online for the conference Makeover Montgomery 4: Healthy, Smart, Inclusive and Competitive Communities, co-sponsored by the Planning Department and the University of Maryland’s National Center for Smart Growth. The conference will be held from May 9 through May 11, 2018 in College Park and Silver Spring, MD to discuss cutting-edge ideas for transforming the suburbs. Presentations will focus on innovative planning and policy tools, and strategies that can help transform our suburbs into exciting, attractive and sustainable communities.
March 1 – The Planning Board will meet to discuss regulatory cases and hold the first work session for the Technical Update to the Master Plan of Highways and Transitways and third work session for the Bicycle Master Plan. For more details, consult the Planning Board agenda, which will be posted online 10 days before the meeting date.
March 8 – Planning Department staff will present the Working Draft of the Veirs Mill Corridor Master Plan to the Planning Board for review. At the meeting, the Board will hold the second work session for the Technical Update to the Master Plan of Highways and Transitways. March 12 – The Planning Department is hosting the public event, A Better Maryland: Community Listening Session Agenda, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Department’s headquarters (8787 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD). The purpose of the session is for state officials to hear from county residents about how best to update Maryland’s overall development plan, called A Better Maryland, that is being created by the Maryland Department of Planning. This plan will establish Maryland’s goals and objectives for growing responsibly, protecting our resources, supporting existing communities and creating quality places.
March 15 – The Planning Board will hold a work session for the Technical Update to the Master Plan of Highways and Transitways. For more details, consult the Planning Board agenda, which will be posted online 10 days before the session date.
March 22– The Planning Board will meet to discuss regulatory cases and plans. For more details, consult the Planning Board agenda, which will be posted online 10 days before the meeting date.
March 29 – The Planning Board will not meet on this day in observance of spring break for Montgomery County public schools.
