The toolkit is a component of the Bicycle Master Plan that provides guidance to designers and planners on best practices in bicycle facility design, including bikeways, bicycle parking and intersection treatments. Included in the toolkit are separated bike lanes, neighborhood greenways and buffered bike lanes, as well as advanced intersection designs, including several forms of protected intersections.

At its June 20 meeting, the Planning Board will also receive an update on recent outreach efforts for the Bicycle Master Plan. During the months of June and July, the planning team solicited community feedback on its preliminary bikeway recommendations through five public meetings held in Bethesda, Burtonsville, Olney, Silver Spring and Wheaton, and the launching of an online feedback map called the Bikeway ReactMap. This map is available at: www.mcatlas.org/bikereact.
