Planning Department Reschedules Development Review Committee

SILVER SPRING – After being closed for two days due to a lack of power following last week’s storm, the Montgomery County Planning Department has rescheduled one of its regular meetings of the Development Review Committee.

Friday’s storm knocked out power to the Park and Planning Headquarters in downtown Silver Spring until mid-morning today. As a result, planners postponed the DRC meeting by one week. Originally scheduled for July 2, the meeting now will be held July 9 (details below).

The inter-agency DRC reviews development applications and provides comments for inclusion in staff reports presented to the Planning Board. The DRC, which includes public agencies and utilities such as Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission, PEPCO, the State Highway Administration, and the county Departments of Permitting Services, Environmental Protection, and Public Works and Transportation, ensures that planners consider all of the relevant issues in their recommendations to the Board.

The Planning Department will re-open on Thursday, July 5 following the holiday.
