Amendment to the Master Plan for Historic Preservation and Update to the Locational Atlas


On March 25, 2014, the County Council took action to designate the following resources on the Master Plan for Historic Preservation:

  • March 25 The County Council took action on the Draft Amendment.
  • February 25, 2014 The Council is expected to hold a public hearing on this proposed Amendment.  Check the Council website for information.
  • January 8, 2013 Planning Board transmittal to County Council
  • October 17, 2013: Planning Board Review – Public Hearing #1
    The Planning Board considered the Public Hearing Draft Park Resources Amendment, which reflects the HPC’s recommendations. After holding public hearings and a worksession, the Board voted to recommend historic designation of the Wheaton Youth Center, the Stubbs Barn, and five Park activity buildings. The Board’s recommendations are reflected in the Planning Board Draft Amendment.
  • November 14, 2013 – Evening Agenda: Planning Board Review – Public Hearing #2 and Worksession

On September 11, 2013, the Historic Preservation Commission held a public hearing and worksession.  Action: The Commission found that each of the 8 resources met the criteria for designation in the Master Plan for Historic Preservation and voted to recommend to the Planning Board that each be added to the Locational Atlas and designated in the Master Plan for Historic Preservation. The HPC‘s recommendations are reflected in the Public Hearing Draft Amendment.
