Private Project: Freestate Petroleum Corporation

Description

The applicant requested modifying the existing special exception for the Freestate Petroleum automobile service station located at 20650 Frederick Road in Germantown, at the southwest quadrant of the intersection of Boland Farm Road and Frederick Road (MD 355). The modification would expand the existing central canopy of the fuel island westward by 20 feet, adding three two-sided multi-product fuel dispensers to the three existing fueling islands. Further modifications would include removing the existing car wash on the site's west side, installing two diesel pumps, and placing a kerosene dispenser and adding a new 30,000-gallon underground fuel storage tank at the site's southeast corner. Also, the applicant would replace the existing five-foot perimeter fence with a sturdier six-foot fence and enhance the site's landscaping and lighting. Single-family housing is located immediately north and west of the site on R-200/TDR-zoned land and the East Germantown Fire Station is planned just south of the site across Boland Farm Road on R-200-zoned land. The Neelsville Presbyterian Church faces the property across Frederick Road.
