Description
The Department of Public Works and Transportation and the Department of Fire and Rescue Services are planning a new fire station for the eastern Germantown area. The East Germantown Fire Station will be on the southwest corner of Boland Farm Road and Frederick Road. The approximately 22,200-square-foot station will contain four apparatus bays, office and administrative space, a dormitory, a kitchen and dining room, and storage space for the Urban Search and Rescue Team. The facility is planned to have 55 parking spaces, access from Boland Farm Road, and an on-site fuel station. The station will house 15 to 20 persons per shift, and will be open 24 hours daily. The nearly four-acre site is zoned R-200 for single-family housing and is surrounded by single-family homes on its south and west. A service station faces the property across Boland Farm Road, and Neelsville Middle School and Neelsville Presbyterian Church are opposite the site on Frederick Road.
