This is a normal intersection of two streets where you would expect there to be a crosswalk at each leg of the intersection, and we're here at the fourth leg and there's no crosswalk. Description: Planner Eli Glazier on sidewalk corner with busy intersection in background. And the problem with that is it causes pedestrians who’d like to cross between where I am to across the street to where the CVS is, to walk across all three other legs of the intersection to do so. Description: Shot of pedestrian walking dog down sidewalk with no road crossing to cross the street. Description: Return to the shot of Eli. Description: Shot of Eli crossing road at Pedestrian crossing. So that's problematic, not just because it takes more time, but because it also exposes those pedestrians to motor vehicles for longer. Description: Return to the shot of Eli at corner. And that is directly tied to an increased likelihood of being involved in a crash. So the Pedestrian Master Plan recommends making sure that all of these types of intersections have an additional crosswalk added. So there's no three legged crosswalks. It's just all four legs, so you don't have to detour as a pedestrian. All the way out of your way to get from one side of the street to the other.
