Planning Department Announces Calendar of August 2017 Events

SILVER SPRING, MDThe Montgomery County Planning Department, part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, is pleased to announce its August 2017 calendar of events. These meetings offer opportunities for the Planning Department staff to discuss policies and engage with the public. Montgomery County Planning Department Events in August 2017

August 1 – September 6 –The Planning Board will be on summer recess and will resume meeting on Thursday, September 7. View the Planning Board Agenda for details on future agenda items. The agenda for each meeting is available online 10 days prior to the hearing date.

August 1 – August 31 – The exhibit Montgomery Modern continues to be on view at the Davis Library (6400 Democracy Boulevard, Bethesda, MD) since its July 2017 debut. This display’s photographs and texts are based on the award-winning book, Montgomery Modern: Modern Architecture in Montgomery County, Maryland, 1930-1979, written by Clare Lise Kelly, a preservation planner with the Planning Department’s Historic Preservation Office.

August 15 – As part of its Silver Spring Placemaking initiative, the Planning Department has organized the Downward Dog Days of Summer, a series of free outdoor yoga classes, starting at 12 noon at the Silver Spring Library plaza (900 Wayne Avenue). Instruction will be provided by Khepera Wellness and yoga mats and bottled water will be supplied. The goal of the events is to activate public spaces in downtown Silver Spring and encourage health and wellness. RSVP.

August 22 – The second Downward Dog Days of Summer session, a free yoga class, will begin at 12 noon in the Silver Spring Library plaza. RSVP.

August 29 – The third Downward Dog Days of Summer event to activate public spaces and encourage health and wellness will be held at 12 noon in the Silver Spring Library plaza. RSVP.
