Historic Preservation Commission Evaluation
On July 14, 2010 the Historic Preservation Commission held the continuance of their public hearing on the Flower Theater and Shopping Center and took action to recommend that: 1) the Planning Board add the Flower Theater and Shopping Center to the Locational Atlas, and 2) the resource be added to the Master Plan for Historic Preservation. The Commission, by unanimous vote, found that the site met four criteria for designation established in section 24A-3(b) of the County Code: (1)a. character, interest or value as part of the development, heritage or cultural characteristics of the county; (2)a. embodies the distinctive characteristics of a type, period or method of construction; (2)b. represents the work of a master; and (2)e. represents an established and familiar visual feature of the neighborhood, communityor county due to its singular physical characteristic or landscape.
The July 14, 2010 meeting was a continuance of a June 23, 2010 public hearing.
