On Memorial Day, join a group bike ride from Silver Spring to downtown Washington, DC where streets near the National Mall will be closed to auto traffic. The trip is part of Bike Silver Spring, co-sponsored by the Planning Department and the Washington Area Bicyclist Association. It will start at Veterans Plaza at 10 a.m. and continue to Beach Drive in Rock Creek Park, before heading south toward DC and the Mall (about 12 miles one way). After cruising the car-free streets in downtown DC, riders can ride back the same way they came, take Metrorail or stay in DC for the Memorial Day festivities.
