Minor Master Plan Amendments

The Planning Department is not accepting additional applications for minor master plan amendments following a change in its 2012-2013 work program, which is set by the County Council. The amendment process had been created to allow the Planning Department to respond to pressing planning issues in a community in short timeframes. The application process will be re-released if and when the Department’s work schedule is modified.

Background

In April, the County Council approved a process for evaluating requests for minor master plan amendments. The goals of the amendment process is to:

  • enable the Department to advise the Planning Board and Council more rapidly on new issues
  • facilitate focused public engagement on matters of a defined scope
  • overcome circumstances where a regulatory environment precludes advancing public objectives and benefits by allowing a proposal that is consistent with evolving planning goals to proceed
  • limit the proliferation of Zoning Text Amendments.
